Elena Sharonina is a graduate student at Florida International University, studying Criminal Justice and Public Administration. In May 2017, she graduated with her bachelor’s in Sport Science from FIU. She is a volunteer at American Red Cross and fluent in both English and Russian. Elena is presently interested in issues related to public policy and administration. Her journey to earning her MPA started during her internship period at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. She believes that for one to be an effective administrator and positively affect public policy issues, it is imperative to act from a position of trust. Ideally, being a public administrator does not just revolve around being an outstanding leader but also revolves around being able to maintain a positive outlook.
