Michael Brown


Dr. Brown earned a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Urban Policy, International Business, from Old Dominion University (ODU) in May 2011. He is co-author of “Social Media 4EVR: Identifying, Achieving, & Nurturing Social Capital, published in February 2014. He teaches online undergraduate and graduate courses for Florida International University (FIU) and onsite courses for Florida Institute of Technology. He previously taught online classes for University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and onsite classes for Old Dominion University (ODU) in Norfolk, Virginia. He is a retired U.S. Air Force public affairs professional.

He is currently on special assignment as Chief, Readiness and Resources, Air Combat Command Public Affairs, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. He is a senior command-level technical expert to U.S. Air Force leadership, primarily advising the director of Air Combat Command Public Affairs on policies, programs and plans to organize, train, equip and ensure deployment readiness of the command’s public affairs forces. Dr. Brown currently serves as president of the Virginia Peninsula Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
