Pathway Programs

The Department of Public Policy and Administration and the MPA program offers various accelerated pathways for both undergraduate and graduate students.

For undergraduate students, the MPA program has both combined BPPS/MPA pathway for BPPS students and 4+1 pathways for undergraduate students who are from a degree program other than BPPS.

For graduate students, MPA has pathways with the College of Law to offer a joint JD/MPA and the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice to offer a joint MSCJ/MPA. All pathways enable students to expedite their time-to-degree, saving both time and money as they are able to earn graduate credits that apply towards both degree programs.

  • Bachelor of Public Policy and Service / Master of Public Administration Degree Pathway

    The combined BPPS/MPA degree pathway allows qualified students to earn both degrees in a shorter amount of time than typically required for earning degrees sequentially. You can read more about the BPPS/MPA Degree Pathway  here.

  • Accelerated (4+1) Bachelor of Psychology / Master of Public Administration Degree Pathway

  • Accelerated (4+1) BSCJ/BSCS / Master of Public Administration Degree Pathway

  • General Accelerated 4+1 Master of Public Administration Degree Pathway

    The General Accelerated 4+1 MPA Degree Pathway allows qualified students from all bachelor's degree programs except the Bachelor of Public Policy and Service (BPPS) to earn both their respective bachelor's degree and the MPA degree in a shorter amount of time than typically required for earning both degrees sequentially. You can read more about the Accelerated 4+1 MPA Degree Pathway  here.

  • Juris Doctor / Master of Public Administration Joint Degree Pathway

    The faculties of the College of Law and the School of International and Public Affairs have approved a joint degree pathway culminating in both a Juris Doctor degree (JD), awarded by the College of Law, and a Master of Public Administration degree (MPA), awarded by the School of International and Public Affairs. You can read more about the Joint JD/MPA Degree Pathway  here.

  • Master of Science in Criminal Justice / Master of Public Administration Joint Degree Pathway

    The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the Department of Public Policy and Administration have a joint degree pathway culminating in both a Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA). The joint degree pathway prepares graduate students for overlapping careers in criminal justice and public management.
